‘New Topographics’ Palma

‘New Topographics’ was a movement fuelled by the shift in landscape photography. During the acceleration of urban development, photographers began to turn their lenses to stark, industrial landscapes and suburbia, far from the traditional, romanticised views we first think of when the term ‘landscape’ is mentioned. In this shoot, I explore Palma de Mallorca in an attempt to unify rural and urban concepts by illustrating how nature is incorporated into our modern cityscapes, whilst referencing some of the artists’ work who were involved in the New Topographics movement.
